How long have you been working? If you have no payslip, do you have any documents that prove you as an insurance agent who’s working for the company? You also need to provide your latest bank statement, where your monthly salary is deposited. Bank would need to see the cashflow of the bank statement.

The documents that you mentioned above, work permit, confirmation letter, and bank statements should be presented to your salesman.

It doesn’t count though. Graduate scheme gives you a benefit of not paying down payment and it will allow you to apply the loan without a guarantor. If these two benefits are the one that you’re looking for, then you should go for this scheme but you’re not eligible for it. What’s your current job? Grad Scheme would also charge you higher interest rate but if you have money to pay down payment, we suggest you not to go for it.

Prefer on Proton Saga FLX or Proton Persona.

In your case, we would definitely encourage you to pay at least 10% down payment to have a higher chance of loan approval by the bank as your basic salary is not strong enough although you’ve pretty good amount of commission.
In the event that you’re interested to purchase by the end of this year, we would encourage you to plan it accordingly. We are not sure about the stock/inventory of this model in the future and we recommend you to plan at least a month early before your expected date of receiving the car.
Our advice for you is to go for Proton Saga which has less maintenance cost and this model has received positive feedbacks from the customers. However, if you are willing to spend more monthly, then you can go for Proton Persona which has larger space but, higher fuel consumption. Up to you man, its hard to compare these two models that are totally different.

Hi Nadiah, you’re not eligible to apply for the graduate scheme. It only applies to those who have graduated within a year ago.

If you are working under government agency, then you are eligible to apply for the 10 years loan. However, we encourage you not to apply for 10 years loan as it would bring a problem to you later in the future. 9 years is OK and you can apply for the graduate scheme and it won’t be a problem. The interest rate for a graduate scheme is around 3.5-3.8% depending on the bank’s approval but if you want to go for a normal financing, but requiring a guarantor, then the interest rate would be much cheaper which is at 2.7%.

Correct. “0” down payment only applies to gov worker and graduated students.

Interest rate could be higher next year because of the increment of the salary and the bank might be able to charge us higher. That’s the possibilities but fyi, the rate offered at this moment is very low and it is the lowest since the past 5 years. Since you just started working, if you’re able to pay 10% down payment, it is better to do so because the interest rate you’ll be charged is lower (2.7% for toyota) and (2.9% for Proton). If you pay 0% down payment, you need to apply graduate scheme and the interest rate is 3.2%. You can calculate your monthly installment here :

The car loan is under your name or the car is under your name? If this is not the first time you buy the car using your name, then you’re not eligible for the graduate scheme.

I would suggest you to either purchase Naza Forte, Toyota Vios or Persona. In term of comfortability and performance, Naza Forte is the best choice for you. Chloe, based on the current rules and regulations, bank would hardly approve your loan as you need to settle you debt first before submitting any loan application. Your loan application could be rejected right away.
Hi. Im interested in getting the new saga flx 1.6 under the grad scheme. Fyi, i hv a degree and jz started working for 5 months. However, i found out from the bank’s website (bank islam), the grad scheme is 100% financing (wifout d/p) and for period of 10 years. Not jz 9 years. Can you please brief me? Is it (the financing period) differ based on national or non-national cars?

It would be better for you to take 9 years of loan as you will be saving a lot on the interest. In addition to that, in case you want to sell the car later, your outstanding balance will be much higher than the market value and you’ll have a hard time selling that car. You’re also taking a full loan and the recommended period should not be more than 9 years

You may not need the guarantor since you’ve been working more than a year. However, there is no stock available for Honda city and you may have to wait at least 3 months after your booking is made. Are you willing to wait? You do have other options such as Naza Forte, Ford Fiesta or Toyota Vios.

Whats your husband’s basic salary? Can do joint income loan but the bank is getting stringent in the process of giving the approval if your salary does not meet the requirement. Need to double check on this.

Hi nil, we wont recommend you to buy a used car as the interest rate is so much higher. Near 4% and its better to buy a new car as it would reduce your maintenance cost and gas consumption. To answer your question, yes you can apply for graduate for a used car but, the interest rate is unreasonable.

What company is that? We can try to apply a loan for you but the bank might require you to provide a guarantor. It will be good if you can provide the guarantor’s documents just in case the bank needs it. We’d recommend you to make an early booking for this model to avoid longer waiting period.

Hi Joss, no you can’t buy a car with 0 down payment. Bank has set a rule that a non-citizen must pay at least 20% down payment with a maximum of 5 years loan.

Boonean, Hi Boonen, if you could provide any documents that stated your pay from the tutoring center, that would be much helpful. Bank statement is helpful to verify your cash flow, and kindly provide that as well. Your dad can be your guarantor but he’s not categorized under a strong guarantor.

Anyways, based on your eligibility, we would recommend you not to get a loan above RM 80k otherwise you need to provide a guarantor. Based on your interest of getting a fuel efficient, low maintenance, good resale value, the best choice of car should be the Perodua Myvi. It’s a lot cheaper to own this model compared to others. If you want a better looking car, we’d recommend you to get Naza Forte, as it is really worth buying it. One of our admins owns this car and he’s quite satisfied with the purchase. The resale value is not as good as buying honda cars but the satisfaction of owning the car is there. Maybe there’s a trade off there. However, honda city may not be a good choice for you since your basic doesn’t meet the minimum requirement. Hi louis, the bank is very risk adverse. The amount of loan you are applying is so high. We would advise you to maintain a good cashflow on your savings and bank statements. Which company are you working at? Why is it fully based on commission?

Hi Pritham, you can actually purchase a car using a job offer letter. However, your current net salary is not sufficient to support you for the loan amount. You need to provide a guarantor and the minimum net salary should be at least RM 1,500 to buy (40-50k price range).
